What we collect when you book a puja, where it lives, who can see it, and how to ask us to delete it.

Last updated: 29 September 2026

1. What we collect

Only what a booking needs:

  • Your name and gotra, so the sankalp is taken correctly.
  • Your phone number, which we use on WhatsApp to confirm and coordinate.
  • Your address for a home puja, and optionally a map location to help the pandit find you.
  • The intention (sankalp) text you write for the puja.
  • Booking details: the puja, the mode, the muhurat, the pandit and samagri chosen, and the price.
  • If you choose to sign in, a basic sign-in identity (name and phone or email).

2. Why we use it

  • To confirm your booking and the muhurat with you on WhatsApp.
  • To brief the pandit assigned to your puja.
  • To arrange samagri and, for a home puja, the pandit’s travel.
  • To collect payment through a payment link or UPI after confirmation.
  • To keep the accounting records Indian law requires.

We do not use your details for advertising and we never sell them.

3. Where it is stored

  • Bookings are stored in a Postgres database hosted by Neon, on AWS in the Singapore region.
  • The booking service (our API) runs on Render, also in Singapore.
  • The website is served by Vercel.
  • When a booking arrives, and when a family cancels or moves it or its pandit hands it back, a notification email goes to our operations team through Resend.
  • The team may copy bookings into a Google Sheet to run day-to-day operations.
  • We message you on WhatsApp, so your booking conversation also lives in WhatsApp.

4. Who we share it with

  • The pandit assigned to your puja receives what performing the rite requires: your name, gotra, phone number, the address and map location (for a puja at your venue), the date, muhurat and panchangam details, whether you asked us to bring the samagri, and the dakshina for that puja. Your sankalp intention — the reason you wrote for the puja — is not shared with the pandit; it stays with us. No other pandit sees your booking.
  • The service providers named above (Neon, Render, Vercel, Resend, Google, WhatsApp) process data on our behalf to run the service.
  • Authorities, only where Indian law requires it.

We never sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Cookies and browser storage

We do not set tracking cookies. To see how many people visit and which pages they use, we count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not identify you and does not follow you to other sites; we send it the page address only, never anything after a “?” in it, and we do not count pages inside the pandit or office dashboards. When you sign in with Google we set one cookie that keeps you signed in; it is marked so that scripts on the page cannot read it, and signing out removes it. The website also keeps a few things in your browser’s local storage so they are there when you come back on the same device: a copy of your bookings, a receipt of any pandit application you submit, and whether you chose the dark theme. That stays on your device and is not sent to anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it.

If we enable Google Maps address search in the booking form, Google may set its own cookies when that search loads; that is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking records for as long as Indian accounting and tax law requires. Details that are not needed for those records, such as the intention text and map location, can be deleted earlier on request.

7. Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message us on WhatsApp and we will honour the request, keeping only what the law requires us to retain. We are not certified under any privacy framework; we simply act on these requests.

8. Keeping it safe

The operations panel that shows bookings is password-protected and only the team can open it. Each pandit sees only their own assigned jobs. Connections to the website and the booking service use HTTPS.

9. Changes to this policy

If we add a service provider or change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
